The idea of having the 40th Anniversary at Kuala Kangsar
from 16th to 18th October 09 was mooted about a year ago (9th
January 09, to be exact) at Doc Jalal's residence, where a group
of us, including our spouse, were invited by Doc Jalal to have a
lunch gathering at his residence in Petaling Jaya, not only to
foster closer "silaturrahim" amongst us, but also to view Doc
Jalal's precious collection of antiques.
So it was on that fateful Friday afternoon of 16th October 09
that my family and I left Taman Kosas, Ampang at 5.00 pm on a
3-hour journey to Kuala Kangsar to participate in the
celebration of our 40th Anniversary at the Malay College Kuala
Kangsar. In the previous night I was with Bab (Anuar Ismail),
Shahar Karim, Rusli Adam, Shahlan Yob and Syed Kadir at Bab's
residence to review what had been done and what else needed to
be done to ensure that the programme for the anniversary would
run smoothly. |

My family and I stopped at R&R Tapah for a rest and also to
perform our "'Jama' Takdim." By sms, I was informed that a few
of the JI65 members were already there and waiting for Jed (Aziz
Ishak) to take them for dinner. I arrived at Kuala Kangsar about
an hour later from R&R Tapah and after checking-in at the
resort, I brought my family to have dinner at the stalls located
nearby the Perak River. After dinner, I met Arbans (Rahim
Abdullah) briefly. He just arrived and preferred to retire early
that night. Therefore, Salmiah and I drove to Jed's house where
there we met Dr.Sulaiman and his wife, Hamidah; Dr.Jalal and his
wife, Yuha ; Khalil Mahfoz, Shahar, Bab (Anuar Ismail) and his
wife, Zul Arishah; Bakaq, Shahlan,
Syed Kadir and Jed (Aziz Ishak) and his wife, Salamiah. While
others were busy discussing on the last-minute
arrangement and finalisation of the programme for the event,
Dr.Sulaiman and Dr.Jalal had their own private medical
discussion and Syed Kadir took a rest all by himself at one
corner of Jed's house. By
about 12.30am, we left Jed's place to return to the resort to
have a good night's sleep in preparation for the following day's
busy schedule. |

2. 2nd Day Sat 17/10/09 - Solat and Kuliah Suboh |
|
| |
|
|
|
|
| |
|
|
The next morning, we gathered at the "surau" located behind
the West Wing of the Big School to perform our "Solat Suboh"
with the students of MCKK. There we met Hawari Mohd Noh
and Harabi (Hanafi Wahid). After the "solat", our Syed Kadir
gave a "tazkirah" on Islamic aspect of the "jiwa"; whereas the "jasmani"
is temporary and will be dead, but the "jiwa" will live on to
return to Allah SWT, to be judged and rewarded or punished on
what it has done in this world. |

3. 2nd Day Sat 17/10/09 - Breakfast at Dining Hall, Big
School |
|
| |
|
|
|
|
| |
|
|
After the "tazkirah", we proceeded to the Dining Hall of the Big
School to have breakfast with the MCKK students. Sufficed to
state here that our brother Harabi (Hanafi Wahid), who some of
us had not met since we left MCKK, had a tough time trying to
recognise and identify some of us. For one thing, he called
Arbans (Rahim Abdullah) "Tajudin" three times, thinking that
Arbans was Tajudin Bakar. Upon further prodding by Jed, Harabi
admitted to having 11 children (from one and only wife) and 25
grandchildren. So, by that standard, I don't think anyone can
ever beat Harabi's record in terms of having the most number
of children and the most number of grandchildren in our batch.
After breakfast, we returned to the resort to change and
returned to the Prep School at about 8.30 am to witness the
morning inspection there. |

4. 2nd Day Sat 17/10/09 - Morning Inspection at the Prep
School |
|
| |
|
|
|
|
| |
|
|
We observed that there were some changes done to the Prep
School, for example, the former bathroons/toilets had now been
"converted" into a dining room, but otherwise, the Prep School
maintained its former self. After the morning inspection was
over and a group photograph was taken, we went to the Guest
Room" at the College's administration block to hand over the
items contributed by Jubli Intan 65 to the school as follows:-
1. 52-inch LCD TV
2. "Compaq" Lap Top and "Acer" Desk Top computer set with original softwares
(Windows Vista,
Microsoft Office and Anti-Virus programme)
3. AL-Quran, Reader Digest, Hadith Muslim and Al-Bukhari books.

5. 2nd Day Sat 17/10/09 - Visit to the Big School |
|
| |
|
|
|
|
| |
|
|
After that we returned to the resort to get ready to visit the
Big School.
We assembled under the Big Tree at about 11.00 am and together
with 3 school prefects, were taken on a tour of the Big
School, beginning with the Form-2 hostel, which has not existed
during our time. We then walked back and dropped by the Squash Courts
to have a look at them. We then walked from the East WIng until the end
of the West wing before we walked back to the Big Tree. We had
another group photograph taken before we dispersed to
return to the resort for lunch and to attend the EGM (Extraordinary
General Meeting) |

After lunch, the activities for the members of JI65 and

Our first visit was to the Labu Sayung factory about 10 minutes'
drive away from the resort. Since it was a public holiday (Deepavali)
that day,
all the factories were closed, except for one, where we managed
to see the last part of the "labu" being made. On the way
back, we dropped by a shop to buy us a few "labu's" as souvenirs and
gifts. |
