On 20th June 2009, I visited Sdra Hamdan
at the Damansara Specialist Hospital. He was then
recovering from an operation after coming back from
China upon the advice from the doctors there. He told
me that after he had recovered from the operation, he
would like to organise a "majlis kesyukuran"
(thanksgiving gathering) at his house
and would invite members of Jubli Intan 65 to attend.
Sure enough, about one and a half months later,
almost recovered, he invited members of Jubli Intan 65
to his house in Kota Damansara. The following is a brief
report of the gathering:- |

On Saturday, 8th August 09, our Sdra Hj.Hamdan Uda Mat Esa held
a "Majlis Kesyukuran, Silaturrahim and Menyambut Ramadhan" at his
residence in Kota Damansara. |

By the time I reached Hamdan's house that night, the
talk ("ceramah') had just started. I was late due to a
personal commitment, from which I ended up having to perform
"solat maghrib" at Surau Al-Ulum in Section 9, Kota
Damansara instead of at Hamdan's place as I had planned and
preferred to do.

The "ceramah" by Ustaz Dr. Abdullah Yasin was beneficially
revealing, in the sense that I learnt something new about
calamity or disaster ("musibah"). The Ustaz said we should
thank Allah SWT for any calamity or disaster that had
befallen us because it cleanse our sins. Furthermore he said
that Allah loves those who experience calamities. It
not only cleanse their sins away, but also test ("menduga")
their patience ("kesabaran").

The "Ustaz" ended his talk just before "ishaq" time and
after Ad did a beautiful "azan", we
all performed "solat ishaq" in congregation in the compound of
Hamdan's semi -detached house. After that the Ustaz led us in
the "berdoa" for Hamdan's speedy recovery from his
illness. |

We were then invited to savour the varities of delicious
food that had been prepared for the guests. Only then did I
manage to see and greet Ad, Dr.Jalal and Wan Jah, followed by
Dato' Oats who said he just arrived from Melaka with his wife
Datin
Hirdah. Our junior of one year, Mazlan Ali was also there. A
while later Dato' Zame and his wife Datin Zaidah also arrived,
saying about his difficulties in trying to locate the place. Doc Jalal
came with his son Fairuz and Ad came with Deb. Only Wan Jah
decided to make it solo to Hamdan's place this time. |

It was a pleasant surprise for all of us to
also see Tan Sri Khalid, the Menteri Besar of Selangor,
who arrived later.
Hamdan looked better last night than the last time I
visited him at Damansara Specialist Hospital. He said he had gained about four
kilos in weight. He also showed me photos of the part of
the body where he was operated to show the progress of
the wound getting better and better with each passing
day. He was his normal self that night and jovial as
ever, going round entertaining his guests.
