PART 2

Our next visit was the Raja Azlan Shah's Gallery. To get to this gallery, we had to go back to Kuala Kangsar to drive up to Bukit Chandan. This gallery was located about 2 km from the Clock Tower.

We had to pay a nominal entrance fee of RM2.00 for adult and RM1.00 for children.

The gallery contained all the personal collections of Sultan Azlan Shah, his antique and non-antique cars, his golf equipment, his official costumes, paintings and much much more. Photos were not allowed to be taken inside the gallery and therefore you only have the photo of my son, Anuar to contend with.

After the gallery visit we "adjourned" to the stalls facing the Perak River to have some drinks before we went back to the resort to prepare ourselves for the night's event.

      1. Saturday, 17/10/09 - Dinner with MCKK Students

That evening we went to the MCKK surau to solat maghrib in congragation with the MCKK boys before we went to the Dining Hall in the Big School to have dinner with them. Ten of us volunteered earlier during lunch time to sit on the High Table. The High Table was not as high as it used to be, probably about half of its original height and it's constructed of concrete now.

After dinner, Jed gave a speech and some citations about Jubli Intan 65 (Batch MCKK 69) to the students, followed by the presentation of the RMC - MCKK Challenge Trophy donated by Jubli Intan 65. Our newly-elected President, Bab presented the trophy to En.Safuan of MCKK.

      8. 2nd Day Sat 17/10/09 - Career Caunselling

After dinner, we adjourned to the Hargeaves Hall where we met Dato' Sallehuddin Hashim and his brother Baharuddin, who had just arrived. The following members volunteered to go to the stage to give a talk on their respective career :

      1. Dato' Sallehuddin Hashim
      2. Syed Kadir Alsagoff
      3. Abu Bakar Hashim
      4. Dr, Sulaiman Abdullah
      5. Khalil Mahfuz
      6. Aznam Abdullah

After everyone in the panel had given their presentation, the students were allowed to ask questions. No one did. Either they were too convinced and satisfied with the presentation that there was nothing to ask or they were too sleepy and in a hurry to go back to their hostels.

After the career counseling session was over, some of us went back to the resort to have an early night's rest while some went to Jed's house for karaoke and further chit-chat.

      8. 3rd Day Sunday 18/10/09 - Free and Easy

I was not sure where Syed Kadir was going to give his tazkirah this morning. It was originally scheduled to be held at the Resort's surau, but subsequently there was a change in venue to a masjid the name of which I couldn't recall at that time.

So I ended up going to Masjid Redzuaniah, where we used to go for our weekly Friday prayer when we were at MCKK from 1965 to 1970/71. An ustaz also delivered a tazkirah on a hadith concerning signs of doomsday (hari kiamat) after the solat Suboh.

Khalil and I decided to go to the stall facing the Perak River to try the "roti canai" there managed by a Malay couple. It was so delicious and "rangup" that Khalil and I decided to go for a second round of the roti canai. Apart from Khalil and me, the other members who shared the 14-bedded dormitory were Shahlan, who left after lunch on the previous day, Shahar, who left after dinner on the previous night, Bakaq, who left for Jed's house on the previous night and then intended to drive back to KL on the same night and my son, Anuar.

After the roti canai breakfast, Khalil left the resort to meet some close friends and relatives in Sayong before leaving for Klang, leaving me and Anuar at the dormitory. I brought Anuar to the Resort's Coffee House for breakfast, where we met Bab and Zul who were also having their breakfast there. Bab and I discussed that the committee should meet in a week or two's time  to discuss about the following year's activities for Jubli Intan 65.

Dr. Sulaiman, Wan Hamzah, Hawari , Arbans and Aznam later on dropped by the resort to bid farewell to us before leaving the resort for their respective destinations.

My family and I left the resort at about 11.30 am and reached Taman Kosas before asar time. The Committee members wish to thank all the members of Jubli Intan 65 for their contribution towards the donation fund to MCKK and participation in the 40th Anniversary. If you have any complaints or suggestions about the event, please contact me or one of our newly-elected Committee members so that future events to be organised by us can be improved further. According to our President, about RM27,000 + was pledged by members of Jubli Intan 65 and we spent about RM16,000 + towards the purchase of the items donated to MCKK. So, we have about RM10,000 + in excess funds towards our Coffee Table Book project and other future JI65 events.
