GATHERING AT KUANTAN ON TUESDAY, 9 JUNE 2009. |

I
was in Kuantan from 7th to 10th
June 09 to accompany Salmiah on her official trip there. On the
night of 9th June 09, while Salmiah attended her company dinner
at the M.S. Garden Hotel, I had the chance to foster
"silaturrahim" with members of Jubli Intan 65 residing in
Kuantan, in particular, Dato' "Raj" Fuad, "GrandPa" Fadzil and Baharom Salleh.
GrandPa and Baharom fetched me
from the hotel, where I stayed and brought me to have an "ikan bakar" dinner at
Tanjung Lumpur, which is located across the Sg.Pahang from
Kuantan . After dinner we went to Kopi Tiam Kemaman to
meet Dato' Raj and his wife, Dato' Mariam for a teh tarek
session. It's unfortunate that Monsa couldn't join us for
dinner that night for, according to GrandPa, he had gone with
his children to Kedah.

We discussed, among
other things, about contribution to our CTB (Coffee Table
Book) Project. Baharom had contributed an article for the CTB
and said that he allowed his article to be made "public"
to citizens of Jubli Intan 65 to read and comment, if they
wish. The creation of the Forum Page was also discussed, where
citizens of Jubli Intan 65 can participate in the discussion
on the CTB project and 40th Anniversary Gathering to be held
from 16th to 18th October this year at Kuala Kangsar. Dato'
Mariam is now the D.O. (District Officer) of Kuantan. The
names of "Amek" (Muhammad Alwi) and Hamdan Uda Mat Esa were
mentioned by both Raj and Baharom for they couldn't recall
them, especially at our mature age. The questions of how to
keep ourselves healthy at this age was also discussed and Raj
gave some very good health tips about what type of exercise to
do in the morning to keep ourselves healthy even to the ripe
age of 70.

By the time we left the
place, it was almost midnight. Thank you Raj (and Mariam),
GrandPa and Baharom, for spending some time with me that night
and I look forward to meeting all of you again the next
time I have the
opportunity to visit Kuantan again.
